Portrait of Maria Callahan

Hi, I'm Maria.

To linger.

Enduring presence. The thought or sensation that stays in the mind long after the moment has passed.

That's what I want for everything I make.

If you're going to put something into the world, it should make someone feel something. That isn't decoration. It's the point.

Most work is seen. Some is felt. Very little is remembered.

People forget what they were told. They remember how something made them feel. A campaign line they're still repeating a week later. The weight of an invitation in their hand. The moment a room went quiet.

That's what lingers. Not the logo or the ad. The feeling it leaves behind, and the emotional weight it carries.

Every project I take on starts with a story and a reason. A brand, a campaign, a few honest lines of copy, an evening people talk about for years. If I can't say why it should exist and how it should feel, it isn't ready yet.

Beauty that holds attention. Clarity that earns trust. A sensation that stays.

Why MEIA

MEIA is a childhood nickname. It was never a name for the world. Only my small, intimate circle has ever used it. It belongs to the version of me that's known completely.

For a long time I held it close. Putting it on this house is the most personal thing I could do. It means everything made here gets the care I'd give the people who call me that.

House of Meia isn't a clever name. It's where I come from. And it's how I want every project to feel: made by someone who knows you and cares.

What I believe

This house runs on belief. I believe that if you're going to put something into the world, it should move someone. I believe beauty is how people decide what to trust. I believe every piece of work deserves a reason and a story. And I believe the best work leaves something behind, the way a person does.

I keep my client list small on purpose.

I only put my name on work I'm proud of.

Why the butterfly

House of Meia butterfly mark

My mark is a butterfly, and I chose it on purpose.

A butterfly is proof that transformation is worth it. Before anyone ever sees it, it does the slow, hidden work of becoming. Nothing about it is rushed or accidental. It doesn't turn into something new. It becomes fully itself.

And when it finally shows up, it interrupts you. You stop mid-step. You point. You watch until it's gone, and you remember it after. A butterfly is disruptive. It's just the kind of disruption that pleasantly surprises you, and that's the kind I believe in.

That's what I want for every project I touch. Do the real work of becoming. Arrive as something beautiful. Stop people in their tracks, in the best way. Stay with people long after it's flown.

A little background

I started in political campaigns and government communications, and went on to lead creative at an agency in Dallas. Today I work with clients all over the world.

Made to linger.
